Rimac is a fairly young Croation automobile specialist that focuses on electric powertains. Its only claim to fame is the Green Monster, an E30 BMW e-M3 which made use of a custom electric drivetrain to achieve a record-breaking 0-100 km/h time of 3,3 seconds. This made it the fastest accelerating electric vehicle above the 1 000 kg mark.
Seven years later, Rimac has adjusted its focus towards the Concept One; an all-electric hypercar making use of magnet electric motors to provide a Rimac All-Wheel Torque Vectoring System (R-AWTV) powered by a 1 000 kW battery pack. This R-AWTV driving system makes use of a collection of sensors positioned around the suspension and chassis to provide constant readings for optimal torque distribution to all four wheels and manages both the traction control and ABS.
The powertrain of the Concept One comprises of four motors and four transmissions. The front wheels are equipped with single speed boxes while the rear makes use of a two-speed carbon-fibre dual-clutch transmissions for smooth transitions of speed.
With this system providing 800 kW of power and 1 600 N.m of torque the Concept One will be able to achieve a staggering 0-100 km/h time of 2,6 seconds and a 0-300 km/h time of 14,2 seconds. The purely track-based Rimac Concept S will 1 032 kW and 1 800 N.m of torque to make the 0-100 km/h run in 2,5 seconds (Presumably to be slowed down by all of that aerokit) and a 0-300 km/h time of 13,1 seconds.
